Introduction About TERRAMYCIN S F 500MG CAPSULE

TERRAMYCIN S F 500MG CAPSULE contains a medicine Oxytetracycline which belongs
to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to manage a wide range
of infections caused by bacteria. These include lung infections such as
pneumonia, chronic bronchitis or whooping cough, urinary tract (bladder and
kidney) infections, sexually transmitted diseases such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea
or syphilis, skin infections such as acne, infections of the eye such as
conjunctivitis, rickettsial infections such as Q fever or tick fever (severe
headache, rash, high fever).

It is also used for other infections such as brucellosis (headache, sickness,
fever, swollen lymph nodes), psittacosis (headache, nose bleeds, shivering,
fever), plague (painful swelling of the lymph nodes), cholera (severe sickness
and diarrhoea), leptospirosis (fever causing jaundice or meningitis),
gas-gangrene and tetanus (lock jaw).

TERRAMYCIN S F 500MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients with severe
kidney, liver disease, porphyria, systemic lupus erythematosus. Consult your
doctor before taking it.

TERRAMYCIN S F 500MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in pregnant and
breastfeeding women unless considered necessary. Consult your doctor before
taking this medicine.

TERRAMYCIN S F 500MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in children under the
age of 12 years and it should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult

Uses Of TERRAMYCIN S F 500MG CAPSULE

Manages a wide range of infections caused by bacteria such as:

• lung infections such as pneumonia, chronic bronchitis or whooping cough
• urinary tract infections

• skin infections such as acne
• infections of the eye such as conjunctivitis

How to use TERRAMYCIN S F 500MG CAPSULE

Take TERRAMYCIN S F 500MG CAPSULE as advised by your doctor. Swallow the
medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. It can be
taken either 1 hour before food or 2 hours after.

Do not take the medicine immediately before going to bed. Your doctor will

• symptoms of raised pressure in the skull such as headache, visual problems including blurred vision, blind spots, double vision
• sensitivity to sunlight or artificial light such as sun-bed (symptoms such as tingling, burning or redness of the skin)

• have porphyria
• have systemic lupus erythematosus (an immunological disorder which affects the skin, brain, heart, lungs, kidneys, joints and other organs)

Before taking TERRAMYCIN S F 500MG CAPSULE, inform your doctor if you:

• have myasthenia gravis (a condition characterised by muscle weakness, difficulty chewing and swallowing and slurred speech)
• are going to have an operation
• have an intolerance to sugars

Use in pediatrics:

TERRAMYCIN S F 500MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in children under the
age of 12 years as it can cause permanent discolouration of tooth enamel and
affect bone development. Consult your doctor before taking TERRAMYCIN S F 500MG
CAPSULE.

Use in geriatrics:

TERRAMYCIN S F 500MG CAPSULE should be used with caution in elderly patients.
