UTORAX INJECTION contains Isoxsuprine which belongs to the group of medicines
called Vasodilators. It is used in the management of premature labor (when the
uterus contraction starts for birth too early than usual) or threatened
abortion, cerebral vascular insufficiency (poor blood flow to the brain) and
arteriosclerosis obliterans (hardening of the arteries).
UTORAX INJECTION is also used to manage Buerger's disease (blood vessels become
inflamed, swell and can become blocked with blood clots) and Raynaud’s
phenomenon (decreased blood flow to the nose, ears, fingers, toes, nipples or
knees). You should avoid participating in any stressful or heavy activities in
order to manage premature labor.
Avoid smoking tobacco during UTORAX INJECTION management as it can further
constrict your blood vessels. UTORAX INJECTION should not be used immediately
postpartum (after delivering a baby) or if you have a bleeding disorder, heart
disease, severe anemia, premature detachment of the placenta and premature labor
if there is infection.
UTORAX INJECTION should be used in pregnant women only if the potential benefits
outweigh the potential risks to mother and her baby. There are no reports of
problems with UTORAX INJECTION use in breastfeeding babies but consult your
doctor before receiving it.
UTORAX INJECTION is not recommended for use in children. The most common side
effects of receiving UTORAX INJECTION are fast heartbeat and vomiting. Contact
your physician if any of the symptoms deteriorate.
Manage:
UTORAX INJECTION manages premature labor by managing the contractions of the
smooth muscles in the uterus. In peripheral vascular disease, it helps in
widening of blood vessels to increase blood flow, thereby improving blood
circulation to certain parts of the body (such as the hands, feet and brain).
UTORAX INJECTION will be given to you only by a physician or a nurse into a vein
as an intravenous infusion or into a muscle (intramuscular). The correct dose
and duration will be decided by your physician for you according to your age,
body weight and disease condition.
Stop receiving UTORAX INJECTION and contact your doctor immediately if you
experience any of the following side effects:
Vomiting:
Take regular sips of a cold drink. Have ginger or peppermint tea. Stick to
simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods. If symptom persists, contact
your doctor.
Skin rash:
Avoid hot showers as it can irritate your skin more. Do not scratch the affected
area. Use protective clothing when going outdoors and moisturize your skin
regularly. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
